The setup of this study is to evaluate the clinimetric properties of the DASH-NL questionnaire in terms of internal consistency, construct validity and test-retest reliability in Dutch patients with an injury of the wrist or hand. 184 patients met the inclusion criteria. All patients filled in three different questionnaires; the DASH-NL, the SF-36 and the SMFA-NL. The internal consistency was excellent with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.97. The construct validity was good with 78.5% correspondence of the results with the predefined hypotheses and a Pearson’s r = 0.892, p < 0.001. For the test-retest reliability, 53 patients filled in the questionnaires for a second time after 2 weeks. Reliability for the DASH-NL was found to be good as well, with an ICC >0.89. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that the DASH-NL is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing disability and symptoms of Dutch patients with wrist or hand injury.
