Abstract

In this study several aspects of the reliability of the DCDDaily were investigated; a systematic and objective measuring instrument to assess Activities of Daily Living (ADL) in 6, 7, and 8 year old children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). Eighty-six children participated in the study, 14 with DCD and 72 typically developing children. To investigate inter-rater reliability 14 children were rated by two scientists and to investigate test-retest reliability the DCDDaily was administered twice to 13 children. The internal consistency was satisfactory (alpha = 0.866), just as the inter-rater reliability (ICC = 0.97) and test-retest reliability (ICC = 0. 71) of the total test score. For the individual items, the inter-rater reliability was well above the level of acceptance for 19 out of 21 items. Poor testretest correlations were found for the individual items. Taken together, the current version of the DCDDaily can be considered reliable. A factor analysis revealed six factors that were underlying the DCDDaily. Finally, preliminary norm scores for the DCDDaily were determined.
