Background Treatment options for non se gmen tal vitiligo vary depending on individual factors and goals, making shared decision making essential to align treatment with patient preferences. L ittle is known on the extent of and demand for shared decision making by patients in the treatment of non segmental vitiligo in the Netherlands The p rimary objective is to assess the extent to which patients have experienced shared decision making in relation to treatment decisions . Secondary objectives are the assessment of patients' decisional conflict and preferences regarding shared decision making. Method s: Patients with non segmental vitiligo from the A msterdam UMC SNIP department completed t he survey which included demographic and clinical characteristics and three validated questionnaires: the 9 item Shared Decision Making Questionnaire , the Control Preference s Scale and the Decisional Conflict Scale . Data were mainly summarised using descriptive statistics. Results: Patients experienced a moderate level of involvement in the process of shared decision-making (SDM-Q-9 mean of 54.47 (SD 24.07) and median 55.56 (IQR 38.33-71.11)). Most patients (62%) experienced decisional conflict and preferred to be actively involved in the decision-making process (46%), while 66% preferred to use a decision aid tool. Subgroup analysis showed that patients with a lower educational level preferred a passive role and desired the use of a decision aid tool (p-values 0.01 and 0.005, respectively). Conclusion: Improvement in shared decision-making for patients with non-segmental vitiligo is needed, even in an expertise centre for vitiligo.
