Abstract

Aim: The evaluation of the content of the psychiatric consultation platform Prisma, within the Siilo app. Relevance: The consultation platform may have a positive influence on the increased experienced workload for general practitioners (due to the shift from secondary to primary care) and also on the care process, by implementing interprofessional collaboration. Question: What questions do general practitioners ask psychiatrists on the Siilo app? Sub-questions: Can the questions also be answered by means of guidelines for GPs (i.e. NHG standards)? How complex are the questions asked? Method: It is a mixed-method study in which the results are described in themes and descriptive statistics. The thematic analysis was performed in Atlas.ti. Results: Three themes emerged: 'patient population', 'type of question' and 'the GP as a human being'. The patient population was diverse in age and extent of psychological problems. The questions were complex as well as non-complex and the majority of the questions could not have been answered from the NHG standard. The research shows there is no NHG standard about ADHD in adults and it reveals difficulties in the referrals of complex problems to secondary care. The findings provide an impression of the complexity of this online communication system, which contributes to literature on the subjects complex (learned) communaction processes as well as the use of online consultation. Discussion/follow-up research: The impact of the experienced workload by GPs and the total amount of referrals is still unknown. Conclusion: The consultation platform is a foundation for interdisciplinary consultation, about a diverse patient population, regardless the complexity of the questions.
