Introduction: Subclinical hypothyroidism, characterized by increased TSH, is a common disorder among children, which can be accompanied by aspecific symptoms of increased cholesterol levels and fatigue. Therapy is a pending policy with periodic follow-up. Aim: This study investigates whether nutrional advice whith thyroid-elementary micronutrients can lead to more TSH- normalization and decrease of non-specific symptoms. Primary outcomes are TSH normalization and fatigue decline. Secondary outcomes are differences in FT4, lipid profile and anto-TPO. Compliance with the nutrition advice is analysed. Method: The patients are randomly assigned tot he intervention group (nutritional advice) or in the control group (no nutritional advice. During three meetings in a follow-up of six months, data from both groups were collected and analyzed. A TSH value of <4,3 is considered normalized. Fatigue is measured using a stadard fatigue questionnaire. Differences in FT4, anti-TPO and lipid-profil are determined on the periodic vena punctures and a provided nutrition diary measures the compliance with the nutrition advice. Results: A total of 63 patients were analyzed, with TSH normalization occuring in 41,7% of the intervention group and in 40,0% of the control group. The degree of fatigue decrease in the intervention group was significant larger(p=0,029), compared to the control group. The final triglyceride value was significantly lower (p=0,021) in the intervenion group (0,6 mm/l) compared to the control group (1,0 mm/l) and compliance with the nutritional advice was found to be 86%. Conclusion: The nutritional advice has not led to a significantly higher degree of TSH normalization but to a significantly higher rate of fatigue decline. At the time of analysis, many data were not yet obtained due tot he ongoing follow-up of 31 patients, resulting in a number of results underpowered. Providing food advice led to about 2 times the intake of the recommended nutrition.
