Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the Dutch translation of the LEFS regarding internal consistency, construct validity and repeatability in a large group of Dutch patients with one or more injuries to the lower extremities. 387 patients completed two questionnaires, the LEFS and the SF-36, and 165 of these patients completed a retest of the LEFS. The internal consistency was found high, with a calculated Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.967. The construct validity was good, with confirmation of 75% of the predefined hypotheses. The repeatability of the LESF is good. The test-retest reliability is excellent with an ICC of 0.931, a statistically insignificant mean difference of -0.20 (p = 0.710). The standard error of measurement is determined to be 4.87. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the LEFS is an internally consistent, valid and reliable questionnaire for use in patients with injuries to the lower extremities.
