Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the technical quality of root canal treatments performed by dentistry students at the RuG. Methodology The technical quality of root canal fillings was examined using preoperative, operative and postoperative radiographs of 300 root canal treated teeth with a total of 555 treated roots. Root canal treatments were performed by dentistry students in a period ranging from 2008 to 2010. Length and density of the root canal filling were examined. Presence of iatrogenic errors such as, ledges, perforations and fractured instruments were also examined. Statistical significance was analysed using chi-square test at a critical significance level of 0.05. Results Acceptable root fillings were found in 63,9% of canals. No significant difference was found in quality of performed bij 4th (64,9%) and 5th (63, 1 %) year students (P > 0.05). No significant difference was found in the quality of root fillings in incisors, cuspids, premolars and molars.
