Abstract
The aim of this study was to indicate significant inter-observer agreement between a Dutch and an American professional, patients and professionals and the ICA Index and the PES by rating the peri-implant mucosa of implant-supported solitary crowns in the esthetic zone (14-24) in total and colour and shape separately. One Dutch and one American prosthodontist rated 60 photographs, that were taken from the lower face of 60 patients, with the ICA Index and the PES. Patients had one implant-supported solitary crown in maxillary esthetic zone (14-24). The implant treatment should be finished within last two years and the patients needed to be at least 18 years old. 60 patients rated their peri-implant mucosa using a questionnaire. The study demonstrated that there is a significant agreement between a Dutch and an American professional regarding the peri-implant mucosa in total and shape and colour separately. Also it was found that there is a significant agreement between professionals with both the PES and the ICA Index in terms of peri-implant mucosa in total and shape and colour separately. There are few significant agreements between patients and professionals found in this study.
